ISY Portal Migrate configurations to a new ISY

From Universal Devices, Inc. Wiki

ISY Portal migration is useful whenever you want to migrate your ISY Portal configuration to a new ISY.

This allows you to migrate:

  • Amazon Echo Spokens
  • Google Home Spokens
  • IFTTT / Webhooks configuration
  • ISY Portal Access License

Prerequisites

  • Your existing ISY must be in your account (It does not have to be online)
  • Your new ISY must be in your account.
  • Your new ISY must have been approved in the admin console (Configuration | Portals | +Approve)

How to migrate

1. In ISY Portal, on your existing ISY, use Select Tools | Maintenance | Migrate to

2. Select the new ISY to migrate to

3. Select options you want to migrate (Default: Migrates everything)

Migration details

General rules

The migration of Amazon Echo spokens, Google Home spokens and IFTTT/Webhooks assumes that the ISY nodes have been transfered over to the new ISY. If your ISY nodes are not available on the new ISY, or if they use a different address, the migration will be successful, but missing nodes won't be working. As an example, if you rebuilt your Z-Wave network on your new ISY, your Z-Wave devices will most likely use a different node address.

Please note that the Occupancy Node server is not migrated. It will have to be manually reconfigured on the new ISY. Similarly, any Polyglot nodeserver will have to be reinstalled.

If you use nodeserver nodes in your Amazon Echo, Google Home or IFTTT configuration, you may want to reinstall the nodeservers in the same sequence so that the nodeserver nodes address stay the same. Please note that the nodeserver node addresses are determined by the nodeserver itself, and therefore may have a different address even if it is installed in the same sequence.

Amazon Echo spokens:

All of your Amazon Echo spokens, including rooms, will be migrated to the new ISY. If your new ISY already has spokens configured, they will be merged together, as long as the same node address are not used in both configurations.

To use your spokens on the new ISY, your preferred ISY may need to be updated with the new ISY uuid. If you selected "Updated preferred ISY" during the migration, it will be updated for you.

Once migrated, a device discovery is not necessary. Your existing groups and routines should continue to work as is.

It is possible to migrate back to the original ISY, should you wish to do so.

Google Home spokens:

All of your Google Home spokens, including rooms, will be migrated to the new ISY.

Once migrated, you will have to delete your existing devices from your Google Home account and sync again to recreate the devices.

It is possible to migrate back to the original ISY, should you wish to do so.

IFTTT / Webhooks:

All of your IFTTT / Webhooks events will be migrated to the new ISY. If your new ISY already has events configured, they will be merged together, as long as the same node address are not used in both configurations.

The key will also be migrated to the new ISY as long as:

  • You currently don't have events configured on the new ISY
  • Or you currently don't have a key set on your new ISY

In other words, the key will NOT be migrated if you already have a working IFTTT configuration on your new ISY. In that case, the events from your previous ISY will be merged onto the new ISY, but your events will not be working as is. You will need to update your services using these events with the key set on your new ISY.

It is possible to migrate back to the original ISY, should you wish to do so.

ISY Portal Access license:

Your ISY Portal Access license can be migrated only if:

  • Your existing ISY has an access license and is not expired
  • Your new ISY is not licensed, or has been licensed with a trial only.

Once migrated, you will see the purchase history of your previous ISY. If you had a trial on your new ISY, it will disappear.

Please note that a license transfer is permanent. It will not be possible to migrate the license back to the original ISY.

Update preferred ISY:

Selecting this option will update the preferred ISY on your user profile. If you are migrating Amazon Echo Spokens or Google Home Spokens, you should leave this selected.

Please note that if you use Mobilinc with ISY Portal, updating the preferred ISY will direct your Mobilinc requests to the new ISY.
